Cash flow for the utility company jumped in the latest quarter in large part because of its recent acquisitions.
BROOKFIELD RENEWABLE PARTNERS L.P. (Toronto symbol BEP.UN; www.brookfieldrenewable.com) has interests in 207 hydroelectric generating stations, 37 wind farms and five natural gas-fired plants. In all, it has over 10,676 megawatts of generating capacity.
Currently, 88% of Brookfield’s power generation comes from hydro, 11% from wind, and the remaining 1% is from biomass and natural gas. Overall, about 65% of that power generation occurs in North America, with another 15% in Brazil, 15% in the rest of Latin America and 5% in Europe. In the quarter ended September 30, 2016, the company’s cash flow per share rose 26.2%, to $0.24 U.S. from $0.19. The gains came mostly from new plants now in operation.
