Newmont expands mine in Africa

This expansion will produce a total of 1.8 million ounces over its estimated 11-year life span. To put that in context, Newmont expects to produce between 4.9 million and 5.4 million ounces of gold in 2017. The company will spend $300 million to $380 million on this latest project.
