If you’re a long-time subscriber to one or more of our newsletters, you likely know that we downplay market-timing and stock-price predictions in the advice we give you. Instead, we focus on investment quality. This includes the stocks for your aggressive portfolio that we recommend in Stock Pickers Digest.

You may recall that back in June 2006, we advised selling a dozen of our former Stock Pickers Digest buys. We weren’t trying to pinpoint a market top. We simply felt the risk level had gone up and that these stocks no longer offered an acceptable balance of risk to potential reward.

This change in our advice helped Stock Pickers Digest readers avoid some nasty downturns.

We just issued 12 new “sell” recommendations—are you holding them?

In the latest issue of Stock Pickers Digest, we reveal the names of 12 stocks you must sell right away—to avoid the potential for big losses in your aggressive portfolio. You get full details on all 12 of these companies, plus 5 in-depth Special Reports and much more absolutely FREE when you try Stock Pickers Digest today. The market stayed buoyant for another year before it began its 2007-2009 slump. It subsequently dropped more than 40% from its level of June 2006. After that, it only regained its June 2006 level in spring 2010.

However, when the more aggressive stocks fail to live up to your expectations, they can fall much further and faster than more established companies. So it’s better to sell these stocks “too soon” rather than “too late.”

We feel much the same today as we did in June 2006. Once again, we’ve changed our recommendation to “sell” on 12 stocks we follow in Stock Pickers Digest.

Finding the same number of sells now as in 2006 is a coincidence. As well, please note that this doesn’t reflect a change in our views about the market outlook. That outlook remains positive. But the reason for the change in our advice is the same. These sells just don’t seem to offer the potential they need to justify the risk they pose to your aggressive portfolio.
