TC ENERGY INC., $62.06, is a buy. The company (Toronto symbol TRP; Shares o/s: 940.0 million; Market cap: $58.3 billion; TSINetwork Rating: Above Average; Dividend yield: 5.2%; www.transcanada.com) has teamed up with Calgary-based WindRiver Power Corp. to build a hydroelectric power facility (the Canyon Creek project) near a retired open-pit coal mine just outside Jasper National Park in Alberta. Unlike regular hydro projects, which tap running water in rivers or dams, this one consists of two pools of water (at different elevations) connected by a seven-kilometre pipeline. At night, when power demand is low, the system will pump water from the lower pool to the upper one. When demand is high, the water will flow downhill turning a turbine generator. The system can produce 75 megawatts for up to 37 hours. TC and WindPower will determine the exact ownership split for this project when they begin construction later this year.
