NUTRIEN LTD. $44 is a buy. The company (Toronto symbol NTR; Aggressive Growth Portfolio, Resources sector; Shares o/s: 572.9 million; Market cap: $25.2 billion; Price-to-sales ratio: 1.3; Dividend yield: 3.9%; TSINetwork Rating: Average; www.nutrien.com) is world’s largest producer of agricultural fertilizers, shipping about 27 million tonnes annually. It also sells seeds, fertilizer and other agricultural products through 2,000 retail stores in seven countries. The stock is down 28% in the past year. That’s partly because the coronavirus outbreak in China has prompted that country to delay new imports of fertilizer. Poor weather conditions have also hurt sales to India and Indonesia. However, Nutrien’s retail outlets help offset its reliance on bulk fertilizer sales. The stock is also attractive for your new buying at 14.3 times its projected 2020 earnings of $2.24 U.S. a share.
