Sasol connects with IoT

SASOL LTD. (ADR) $37.44 (New York symbol SSL; Extra Risk) (082-883-9697;; ADRs o/s: 650.6 million; Market cap: $22.4 billion; Dividend yield: 2.2%) is South Africa’s third-largest coal producer and is the world’s largest maker of fuel from coal. It also produces chemicals, and oil and gas. Sasol continues to streamline its operations to improve efficiency. That has helped push the shares to a three-year high. For example, the company’s Secunda Synfuels Operations—a division of Sasol South Africa—will now use a Honeywell Connected Plant service to monitor the operating reliability of its refineries. Connected through the Internet of Things (IoT), those plants will stream data to a central system that monitors performance and provides early detection of problems.
