SASOL LTD. (ADR) $27.17 (New York symbol SSL; TSINetwork Rating: Extra Risk) (082-883-9697; www.sasol.com; ADRs o/s: 651.4 million; Market cap: $18.9 billion; Dividend yield: 2.8%) has developed a technology to convert coal and natural gas into motor fuels. Sasol is South Africa’s third-largest coal producer and is the world’s largest maker of fuel from coal. That production occurs at its plant in Secunda, near Johannesburg. The company also produces chemicals, and oil and gas at the facility. (Sasol makes synthetic fuels from natural gas in Qatar and Nigeria.) The company is now considering buying Chevron Corp.’s South African assets. Chevron (symbol CVX on New York) is a recommendation of our Wall Street Stock Forecaster newsletter. The oil giant put its 75% stake in the South African unit up for sale in January 2016.
