New ETFs launched for Canadian investors

This month we consider a new ETF from CI Asset Management that uses leverage to invest in North American growth stocks. We also look at a recently launched ETF from Franklin Asset Management that focuses on companies in compliance with ESG criteria. CI Global Asset Management launched the CI Alternative North American Opportunities ETF $20.29 (Toronto symbol CNAO) on July 8, 2021. The fund is actively managed and aims to provide high returns by investing in North American-listed growth-orientated companies. The ETF uses leverage to enhance its returns by borrowing cash, using derivatives, and short selling. The fund currently holds 37 stocks of which the top 10 make up 37% of assets. Top holdings include Alphabet, Amazon, Facebook, Bookings Holdings, Humana, Nextera Energy, and Edward LifeSciences.
