It’s also the largest U.S. maker of ethanol from corn. The company continues to expand its main food-processing operations, which are less volatile than its grain-trading operations. As part of that plan, Archer Daniels continues to build a new plant in China to supply animal and fish feed to local food producers. The company has yet to reveal how much this project will cost, but that strategy will help it profit from rising meat consumption in China. The new facility should open in 2019.
