Innergex adds wind plants

INNERGEX RENEWABLE ENERGY $22.81, is a buy. The power generator (Toronto symbol INE; Shares o/s: 174.4 million; Market cap: $3.9 billion; TSINetwork Rating: Extra Risk; Dividend yield: 3.2%; www.innergex.com) operates 37 hydroelectric plants, 32 wind farms and six solar power fields. They’re spread across Quebec, Ontario, B.C., Idaho, France and Chile. Innergex recently formed a strategic alliance with Hydro-Quebec. As a result, Hydro-Quebec bought $661 million in Innergex stock. That gives it a 19.9% stake in the company. Innergex plans to use the cash to acquire promising wind and solar projects. For example, it has already invested $77.3 million to buy six wind farms in Idaho from Terna Energy SA. The six 23-megawatt wind farms—Cold Springs, Desert Meadow, Hammett Hill, Mainline, Ryegrass and Two Ponds—have a total installed capacity of 138 megawatts.
