Thanks to strong demand for its premium laptop computers, HP expects to earn between $1.74 and $1.84 a share for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2017. That’s up from its earlier forecast of $1.63 to $1.66 a share. The stock, which has gained 50% in the past year, trades at 12.3 times the midpoint of its new range. That low multiple mainly reflects uncertainty over the rising costs of computer memory chips and other components. HP has also said it will increase its dividend by 5% for fiscal 2018. That would lift the current annual rate to $0.56 a share, for a 2.5% yield. HP is still a hold.
