Rayonier Inc. $56.98, symbol RYN on New York (Shares outstanding: 80.6 million; Market cap: $4.6 billion; www.rayonier.com), is an international forest products company. On January 1, 2004, it became a real estate investment trust. The company has four main divisions: Performance Fibres (69% of sales, 65% of earnings) makes high-value specialty cellulose fibres for a wide variety of uses, including LCD TV screens, pharmaceuticals, paints, cosmetics, textiles, cigarette filters, impact-resistant plastics and food products. This business also makes absorbent fluff fibres, which are used in diapers and hygiene products. Timber (15%, 11%) manages roughly 2.4 million acres of timberland in the U.S. and New Zealand. Real Estate (10%, 23%) owns about 200,000 acres of land with residential and commercial development potential in the coastal areas of Georgia and Florida. Wood Products (6%, 1%) makes specialized lumber products from three sawmills in Georgia. This division also trades logs and wood products.
