AT&T INC., $29.71, New York symbol T, is a top pick for 2020. The company is the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. It also offers traditional phone and satellite TV services. AT&T last raised its quarterly dividend with the February 2020 payment. Investors now receive $0.52 a share, up 2.0% from $0.51. The new annual rate of $2.08 yields a high 7.0%. The company has increased that annual investor payment for 36 consecutive years. In June 2018, it purchased media giant Time Warner (now called WarnerMedia) for $103 billion in cash and stock. The company plans to use WarnerMedia’s content to attract more users for its wireless and TV services. Those include its new HBO Max video streaming service, which launches May 27, 2020. The coronavirus outbreak has cut advertising revenue from WarnerMedia’s broadcast and cable TV operations.
