Cellular concrete is an innovative construction material consisting of cement, water, a proprietary pre-formed foaming agent, and compressed air. It flows easily during placement; after the material hardens, it has lightweight, insulating, and energy-absorbing properties. Cellular concrete has many potential applications: lightweight backfill used in retaining walls, bridge approaches, roadways, and slope stabilization; insulation in the form of frost-protected shallow foundations; and the insulation of shallow utility installations and industrial and commercial floor bases.
