Western Potash, $1.24, symbol WPX on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 160.9 million; Market cap: $199.6 million; www.westernpotash.com), aims to bring its 100% owned Milestone property into production. Milestone consists of 500 square kilometres, and is located 30 kilometres southeast of Regina. The property is southeast of Mosaic’s Belle Plaine Mine, one of the largest producing potash-solution mines in the world. Western Potash still needs to successfully complete a feasibility study that supports a mine at Milestone. However, the company appears to have a better-than-average chance of bringing a mine into production. It holds cash of $23.1 million, or $0.23 a share. Western Potash is okay for aggressive investors to hold. A: Encanto Potash, $0.28, symbol EPO on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 250.1 million; Market cap: $70.0 million; www.encantopotash.com), is focused on exploring for potash in five southeastern Saskatchewan prospects.
