InterRent REIT, $6.05, symbol IIP.UN on Toronto (Units outstanding: 44.2 million; Market cap: $267.4 million; www.interrentreit.com), owns and operates rental apartment properties in Ontario. Its core markets are western Ontario (London and Sarnia), Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton/St. Catharines. The trust spent $86.0 million buying new properties in the first nine months of 2012. It now has 4,695 suites, up 17.8% from 3,985 a year earlier. Its occupancy rate is 98.6%. In the three months ended September 30, 2012, InterRent’s revenue rose 28.1%, to $12.5 million from $9.7 million a year earlier. That’s mostly due to contributions from its new buildings; the average rent per suite also rose 6.2%. Cash flow jumped 115.6%, to $3.6 million from $1.7 million. Cash flow per unit rose 60.0%, to $0.08 from $0.05, on more units outstanding. InterRent pays monthly distributions of $0.0133 a unit. The annual rate of $0.16 yields 2.6%.
