A: Vanguard Consumer Discretionary ETF, $142.61, symbol VCR on New York, aims to track the MSCI US Investable Market Consumer Discretionary 25/50 Index. It’s an index that invests in U.S. consumer discretionary companies. These firms are in manufacturing and service industries that tend to be the most sensitive to economic cycles. Its manufacturing segment includes the following industries: automotive, household durable goods, textiles and apparel, and leisure equipment. The services segment includes hotels, restaurants and other leisure facilities, media production and services, and consumer retailing. The 25/50 means that no stock can represent more than 25% of the portfolio, and the sum of the weight of each stock that’s 5% or more of the portfolio can’t exceed 50%.
