A: FMC Corp., $104.02, symbol FMC on New York (Shares outstanding: 125.0 million; Market cap: $13.0 billion; Manufacturing sector; TSINetwork Rating: Average; www.fmc.com), is a leading provider of agricultural chemicals. Its products include fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and biologicals. The company has 23 manufacturing plants worldwide, and its products are sold in more than 120 countries. In 2017, Dow Chemical and DuPont merged to form DowDuPont. To satisfy regulators’ concerns about the possibility of anti-competitive behaviour, each company had to sell certain assets. Those included the sale of part of Dow’s crop protection business to FMC in November 2017. At the same time, as part of this complex merger, DuPont acquired FMC’s Health and Nutrition line. After the transaction, FMC became the fifth-largest crop protection firm globally. In October 2018, FMC used an IPO to set up its lithium business as a separate company, Livent Corp.
