SPINAL ELEMENTS HOLDINGS INC., is a California-based medical devices company that makes implants and products for minimally invasive spine procedures. The company has filed paperwork with regulators for an initial public offering (IPO) of 7,700,000 shares at between $13.00 and $15.00 a share. The stock will trade on Nasdaq under the symbol SPEL. Founded in 2003 as Quantum Orthopedics, the company changed its name to Spinal Elements in 2006 to focus on spine surgery technologies. In May 2016, New York private equity firm Kohlberg & Company acquired Amendia Inc. A year later in April 2017, Amendia acquired Spinal Elements. The merger of the two companies solidified its leading position in the spinal procedures marketplace. Today, Spinal Elements’ line of products cover 95% of the available spinal surgeries.
