WALT DISNEY CO., $109.40, symbol DIS on New York, is a family-focused entertainment and media company. Its assets include the ESPN and Disney cable networks, ABC Television Network, some movie studios including Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Parks and Resorts that include Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Disney Cruises, and Disney Consumer Products. Disney will now acquire the movie and television production assets of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc. (symbol FOXA on Nasdaq) along with some of its cable properties for $52.4 billion in Disney shares. 21st Century Fox shareholders will receive 0.2745 Disney shares for every share they hold in Fox. After the deal closes, Disney shareholders will own 75% of the merged company with Fox shareholders owning the rest. A new, separate Fox, with annual revenues of $10 billion and $2.8 billion in profits, will hold on to certain assets such as Fox Sports, Fox News, and Fox Television Stations.
