ALAMOS GOLD INC., $8.08, symbol AGI on Toronto, took its current form in July 2015, when it merged with AuRico Gold, at that time a Stock Pickers Digest recommendation. The combined firm owns the Mulatos and El Chanate mines in Mexico, and the Young-Davidson and Island mines in northern Ontario. Alamos continues to report positive results from exploration around its 100%-owned Island gold mine. The drilling is aimed at expanding reserves at the mine. That site lies 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa in northern Ontario. The property is accessible all year by road. So far in 2019, Alamos has undertaken 28,123 metres of exploration drilling around the mine, plus 18,876 metres of underground exploration drilling from the mine itself. The results have revealed several high-grade mineral deposits. They include a 12.3-metre drilling section that was graded at a very high 63.94 grams of gold per tonne.
