A: Canada Nickel Co., $1.91, symbol CNC on the Toronto Venture Exchange (Shares outstanding: 57.3 million; Market cap: $109.4 million; www.canadanickel.com), is focused on one project: its 100% owned Crawford nickel-cobalt project in the Timmins-Cochrane area of Northern Ontario. Canada Nickel acquired the Crawford project in November 2019 from a joint venture between Noble Mineral Exploration and Spruce Ridge Resources. Canada Nickel paid $2 million in cash and 32 million in shares. The company then went public when it launched its IPO in February 2020 at $0.25 a share. Canada Nickel believes Crawford will be the next big nickel project in Canada. The site is 20 kilometres north of Glencore’s enormous Kidd Creek base metal mine. While its close proximity is encouraging, it’s far from a guarantee of success. Properties near existing mines can host significant deposits, or they may contain little or no mineable minerals at all.
