This issue doesn’t seem to matter much to the stock market, nor to the TV-viewing public. Whatever impeachment-related charges come out of the Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives, the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate is sure to vote them down. Despite the impeachment proceedings to date, Democrats hate Trump as much as ever, and Republicans are as anti-Democrat as ever, if not more so. However, surveys of non-affiliated or independent U.S. voters show they disapprove of the impeachment proceedings. Our guess is that the impeachment campaign hurt the Democrats more than the Republicans. That would make it a plus for investors, since the Democrats seem to be lurching in an anti-business, anti-investor direction these days. USMCA, the new U.S./Mexico/Canada treaty that replaces NAFTA.
