The stock has dropped 33% in the past six months. That’s mainly because SNC continues to face criminal charges that it used bribes to win construction contracts in Libya between 2001 and 2011. If convicted, the courts could ban the company from bidding on new government construction contracts for 10 years. A conviction could also prompt the company to spin off its international operations. Meantime, SNC may sell all or part of its 16.77% stake in Highway 407, a toll highway in Southern Ontario. The value of that investment may be as much as $30 per share. SNC-Lavalin is okay to hold.
