INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS & FRAGRANCES INC. $131 (www.iff.com) recently completed its acquisition of Frutarom, an Israeli firm that makes over 70,000 flavouring products for over 30,000 customers in 150 countries. About 75% of those products come from natural sources....

United Technologies recently completed its acquisition of Rockwell Collins—a rival maker of aircraft parts. Like most big acquisitions, this one adds risk, but it also comes with several long-term benefits. Those include giving United Technologies more clout when negotiating new deals with big aircraft makers such as Boeing and Airbus.


The company now plans to spin off its Otis (elevators) and Carrier (heating and air conditioning) operations as two separate companies....
Prospects for all three of these companies from our Aggressive Growth Portfolio continue to improve, either through acquisitions or cost cuts. Still, each stock fell sharply in 2018 and will likely remain depressed in 2019.

The company has three main businesses: Completion (52% of revenue) supplies tools such as liner systems, sleeves and plugs that help drillers maximize production and cut costs; Intervention (25%) supplies “fishing” tools that help remove debris from the bottom of wells; and Production (23%) supplies expert technicians and equipment for the construction of new wells.


The Rockies region, including the Bakken and Piceance shale fields, account for 39% of KLX Energy’s revenue....
