The Nordstrom family, which has a 31% stake, has now postponed its plan to acquire 100% of the company’s shares. The delay, until early 2018, is mainly because lenders worry weak holiday sales would hurt a then-private Nordstrom’s ability to repay its loans. In recent quarters, the company’s same-store sales have been sporadic as department stores, in general, struggle against online retailers. Nordstrom is a hold.
