If you include Valspar’s debt, the total price was $11.3 billion. The company expects the purchase will increase its free cash flow (regular cash flow less capital expenditures) from $1.4 billion in 2016 to around $2.0 billion in 2020. That will help it pay down the cash Sherwin borrowed to finance the takeover; as of September 30, 2017 its long-term debt was $10.1 billion, or 26% of its $38.8 billion market cap.
