It is not related to the U.S.-based insurer Prudential Financial Inc. (New York symbol PRU).
In 2020, activist investment firm Third Point acquired a 5% stake in Prudential. Partly due to that pressure, the company now plans to spin off its U.S. operations, called Jackson National Life Insurance Co., as a separate firm. The remaining business will focus on its faster-growing operations in Asia and Africa.
