Agilysys Inc., $9.46, symbol AGYS on Nasdaq (Shares outstanding: 22.1 million; Market cap: $214.3 million; www.agilysys.com), makes point-of-sale, property management and inventory and procurement software for clients in the hospitality and retail industries. Its customers include casinos, resorts, hotels, stadiums, cruise lines, grocery stores and convenience stores. In the three months ended December 31, 2012, Agilysys’s revenue rose 30.3%, to $67.2 million from $51.6 million a year earlier. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.08 a share, compared to a loss of $0.06. Agilysys’s balance sheet is strong: it holds cash of $79.8 million, or $3.61 a share, and has no debt. The company’s focus on the hospitality industry is paying off, and that’s adding to its steady sales to retailers. Examples of its hospitality software include GolfPro for pro shop management, and its ResPAK online dining reservations system for restaurants.
