Hecla gains from silver

In the quarter ended December 31, 2016, the company’s gold output rose 4.6%, to 63,150 ounces from 60,350. Hecla also produced 4.0 million ounces of silver—up 9.1% from 3.6 million a year earlier. That increase came from higher ore grades as well as increased output from the new San Sebastian mine in Mexico. The company’s cash flow jumped in the latest quarter, to $52.2 million, or $0.13 a share, from $27.5 million, or $0.07 a share, a year earlier.
