It also makes specialized tools for industrial customers. In 2015, Snap-On’s revenue gained 2.3%, to $3.4 billion from $3.3 billion in 2014. The company continues to benefit as carmakers add new features to their vehicles such as automatic parking and braking systems. That has forced repair shops to invest in new tools and upgrade their diagnostic equipment. Most of these clients borrow the funds they need to buy new tools and equipment, which has increased earnings at Snap-On’s financing division. The stock is down 17% from its recent peak of $175 in December 2015. It now trades at 16.3 times the $8.93 a share that Snap-On will likely earn this year. The company gets 80% of its earnings from the cyclical automotive industry, which adds to its risk. The $2.44 dividend yields 1.7%. Snap-On is a hold.
