Pacific Rubiales, $24.73, symbol PRE on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 298.8 million; Market cap: $6.6 billion; www.pacificrubiales.com), is a Canadian oil and natural-gas producer. The company owns 100% of Meta Petroleum Corp., a Colombian oil firm that operates the Rubiales and Piriri oil fields in the country’s Llanos Basin. The company operates these fields in association with Ecopetrol S.A., the Colombian national oil firm. Pacific Rubiales is focused on exploration and development, mainly within Colombia’s eastern Llanos Basin, as well as in other parts of Colombia and northern Peru. In the three months ended June 30, 2011, the company’s revenue rose 168.3%, to $957.5 million from $356.8 million. Cash flow per share rose 166.1%, to $1.49 from $0.56. Pacific Rubiales’ production rose 59.9%, to 88,092 barrels of oil equivalent per day (including natural gas) from 55,102 barrels.
