A: Deutsche Bank AG (ADR), $14.01, symbol DB on New York (ADRs outstanding: 1.4 billion; Market cap: $16.5 billion; www.db.com), is a German-based global banking and financial services company with headquarters in Frankfurt. Recently, it has been among the worst performers in the European banking industry. Slowing economic growth, along with all-time-low interest rates, continues to hurt the bank’s lending business. Also, many of its current loans in the energy industry are in arrears. Stricter regulations have now increased its legal and compliance costs and put pressure on the bank’s profits. All four of Deutsche Bank’s core businesses suffered revenue declines in the second quarter. Its investment bank and securities-trading operations have struggled to maintain market share as political and economic uncertainty continues to hurt all European investment banks.
