Tirex Resources, $1.26, symbol TXX on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 31.2 million; Market cap: $39.3 million) is focused on the exploration and development of its Mirdita property in Albania. Mirdita is located 70 kilometres north of the capital city of Tirana, and can be reached by paved and gravel roads. Tirex is drilling for copper, zinc, gold and silver at the site. The company is concentrating on areas where mining had previously been started, and those that had been evaluated when metal prices were lower. The company’s stock is up 152% from $0.50 a share at the beginning of May. The shares began their climb when Tirex announced that it was restarting drilling at Mirdita this spring, rather than in the summer as the company had originally planned. An early snow melt and dry weather let it start drilling earlier. So far, Tirex’s drilling at Mirdita has shown that the property has potential. But its exploration is still at a very early…
