Nike Inc., $167.57, symbol NKE on New York (Shares outstanding: 1.3 billion; Market cap: $263.3 billion; www.nike.com), is the world’s largest athletic footwear and apparel manufacturer. Founded in 1967 in Oregon, the company generates 39% of its revenue in North America. The rest is from Europe, Middle East & Africa, Greater China, the broader Asia/Pacific region, and Latin America. Nike has seen consistent revenue growth over the years. From fiscal 2017 (years-end May 31) to 2019, the company’s sales grew by 13.9%, from $34.4 billion to $39.1 billion. In 2020, due to pandemic-spurred store closures around the world, revenue fell 4.4% to $37.4 billion. However, in fiscal 2021, they bounced back, rising 19.1% to $44.5 billion.  Over the past five years, Nike’s earnings grew by 35.1%, from $4.2 billion, or $2.51 a share, in 2017 to $5.7 billion, or $3.56 a share, in 2021.
