YAMANA GOLD $4.18 (Toronto symbol YRI; TSINetwork Rating: Speculative) (416-815-0220; www.yamana.com; Shares outstanding: 1.0 billion; Market cap: $4.3 billion; Dividend yield: 0.6%) owns and operates six gold mines in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. It also holds 84.6% of Brio Gold (symbol BRIO on Toronto), which owns three mines in Brazil. Yamana holds a number of other properties in advanced stages of development. In February 2016, the company bought the Riacho dos Machados gold mine in Brazil for $51 million. This openpit operation produces 100,000 ounces per year. In the three months ended September 30, 2016, Yamana’s overall gold production rose 2.6%, to 328,604 ounces from 320,346 a year earlier. The increase was the result of higher output at some of Yamana’s smaller mines, plus the contributions of Riahco dos Machados. Gold prices rose 19.2% in the latest quarter. That, plus the higher production, pushed up Yamana’s cash flow by 38.5%, to $173.0 million, or $0.18 a share, from $124.9 million, or $0.13,…
