IAC/INTERACTIVE CORP. $238 is a buy. The Internet and media company (Nasdaq symbol IAC; Manufacturing & Industry Sector; Shares outstanding: 85.3 million; Market cap: $20.3 billion; No dividend paid; Takeover Target Rating: Lowest; www.iac.com) still plans to spin off its Vimeo business as a separate company. Originally formed as a video-hosting competitor to YouTube and Netflix, Vimeo has shifted its focus to selling software that lets users create and share online videos. Partly due to an acquisition in 2019, Vimeo’s average number of subscribers jumped 26% in 2020 to 1.4 million. Those users are also shifting to higher-priced offerings with additional storage and bandwidth, video editing tools and live streaming capabilities. As a result, Vimeo’s revenue soared 44.5%, to $283.2 million from $196.0 million in 2019. It lost $11.2 million (before depreciation, taxes and interest costs) in 2020, but that was a big improvement over its 2019 $41.8 million loss.
