New ETFs launched for Canadian investors

This month we look at two new ETFs from Bank of Montral. Both are focused on companies involved in “megatrends”—specifically, genomics and fintech. The bank launched a range of ETFs in January 2021 that focus on megatrends. It argues that megatrends are “future drivers of market growth driven by the adaptation of new technologies, which will impact our behaviours, our needs, and how we interact with the world. These are trends so large in scale that they are predicted to impact businesses, companies and industries across the globe in the future.” BMO MSCI GENOMIC INNOVATION ETF $28.66 (Toronto symbol ZGEN) invests in companies that are involved in genomic sequencing, bioinformatics, molecular diagnostics, and agricultural biotechnology. The fund launched on January 26, 2021, and charges a management fee of 0.40%. It currently holds assets of $11.0 million. The ETF aims to track the MSCI ACWI Genomic Innovation Index.
