New ETFs for the Canadian market

ETFs are flooding the market and Canadians are increasingly spoiled for choice. Here’s four new, or upcoming, launches. We’re not entirely convinced of their investment merits, but we are impressed by the diversity and creativity. WISDOMTREE EMERGING MARKETS DIVIDEND INDEX ETF $27 (Toronto symbol EMV.B; Market cap: $2.6 million) invests in dividend payers based in emerging markets. The price of the ETF is reported in Canadian dollars and the underlying currency exposures are unhedged. The ETF holds a large portfolio of 685 stocks. Its main country exposures are Taiwan (22%), China (18%) and South Korea (12%). Its key sector exposures are Financials (22%), Information Technology (20%) and Energy (12%). The fund’s top 10 holdings constitute 23% of its total assets. They are Taiwan Semiconductor Co (4.4%), Samsung Electronics (3.8%), China Construction Bank (3.0%), Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2.4%), China Mobile (2.0%), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (1.8%), Gazprom (1.8%), Lukoil (1.6%), Bank of China (1.2%) and China Petroleum (0.9%). The ETF launched…
