Hathor Exploration, $1.53, symbol HAT on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 100.8 million; Market cap: $154.2 million), is a junior-uranium company that is focusing on eight exploration projects in northern Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin. Hathor’s main exploration properties are located in the eastern side of the Athabasca Basin, in the same region that contains all of Canada’s producing uranium mines, and accounts for 23% of global production. The company is currently exploring for uranium at its Midwest Northeast project, which is close to producing properties owned by Cameco (symbol CCO on Toronto) and AREVA of France. Hathor owns 90% of the Midwest Northeast property; Terra Ventures (symbol TAS on Toronto) holds the other 10%. The Midwest Northeast property is Hathor’s most advanced project. The company is focusing its exploration on the Roughrider zone, where it has found significant uranium mineralization over the last couple of years.
