Bankers Petroleum, $8.34, symbol BNK on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 244.1 million; Market cap: $2.0 billion; www.bankerspetroleum.com), is a Canadian company with heavy-oil assets in Albania. Bankers produces over 12,100 barrels per day from its Patos Marinza heavy-oil field. It also holds 100% of the nearby Kucova field. Bankers aims to raise its production to 20,000 barrels a day by the end of 2011. It could report cash flow of as much as $0.55 U.S. a share this year, and $1.02 U.S. a share in 2012. Bankers holds cash of $107 million U.S., or $0.44 a share, and has low debt. The company’s focus on Albania entails some political, economic and currency risk. For example, three people were recently shot dead and more than 150 were injured as protesters battled police at an anti-government rally in Tirana, the Albanian capital.
