GoldQuest, $1.70, symbol GQC on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 140.2 million; Market cap: $238.3 million; www.goldquestcorp.com), is up sharply from just $0.04 in May. That’s because of the company’s recent gold and copper discovery in the Dominican Republic. GoldQuest continues to report high grades from drilling at its 100%-owned Romero gold/copper deposit. Highlights include hole LTP-94, which yielded 234.7 metres of a high 7.88 grams of gold per tonne and 1.43% copper. The hole also includes a 103.6-metre section of 13.17 grams of gold per tonne and 1.55% copper. Exploration in the Dominican Republic is also attracting investor interest because Barrick Gold has just started production at Pueblo Viejo, one of the world’s largest gold mines. The company expects the project, which is a joint venture with Goldcorp, to produce over 1 million ounces of gold a year.
