Honeywell International Inc., $46.54, symbol HON on New York (Shares outstanding: 772.2 million; Market cap: $35.9 billion), is a diversified technology and manufacturing company. It has operations in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Honeywell has four main divisions: The automation and control division, which supplied 41% of Honeywell’s 2009 revenue, makes sensors, controls and security systems for homes and businesses. The aerospace division (35% of 2009 revenue) makes engines and parts for air and space flight. The U.S. government is a major customer for its defense and space products. The specialty materials group (13% of revenue) makes chemicals, advanced materials and technology for companies that produce and refine petrochemicals. The transportation-systems group (11% of revenue) makes turbochargers for cars and trucks, as well as replacement parts. In the three months ended June 30, 2010, Honeywell’s revenue rose 7.9%, to $8.2 billion from $7.6 billion a year earlier.
