Gran Tierra Energy, $6.49, symbol GTE on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 216.3 million; Market cap: $1.4 billion), is a Calgary-based oil company with exploration and producing properties in Colombia and Argentina. It also has exploration properties in Peru. The stock began trading on Toronto in February 2008 at $3.50 a share. Gran Tierra had cash flow per share of $0.22 in the three months ended September 30, 2009. That’s up 37.5% from $0.16 a year earlier. (All figures except share price and market cap in U.S. dollars.) Revenue rose 87.5%, to $75.2 million from $40.1 million. In the latest quarter, production from four new development wells at its Costayaco field in Colombia pushed up Gran Tierra’s overall production by 208.7%, to 12,945 barrels of oil per day from 4,194 barrels.
