I’d Choose ‘Buy’

Many members of my Inner Circle have asked the same question this week: Is it time to buy? If I had to choose between “Buy” and “Sell”, I’d say “Buy”, by a big margin. Having said that, I’m obliged to repeat a caveat you’ve often heard from me over the years: Nobody can predict these things consistently. If you could do that, you’d eventually acquire a measurable proportion of all the money in the world, and nobody ever does that. We don’t try to time the market, in our publications or in the accounts of our portfolio management clients. Note too that I’m only saying “Buy” if the choice is between “Buy” and “Sell.” It’s always a good rule to buy stocks only if you can afford to hold them for several years.
