Canadian Natural Resources, $44.80, symbol CNQ on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 1.1 billion; Market cap: $49.0 billion; www.cnrl.com), operates in western Canada (including its 100%-owned Horizon Oil Sands Project), the North Sea and off the coast of West Africa. The company’s product mix is about 67% oil and 33% natural gas. Production began at Canadian Natural’s Horizon Oil Sands Project in 2009. Horizon now produces 90,867 barrels of oil per day (15% of the company’s total production). Canadian Natural’s conventional North American oil-and-gas properties are located in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan. This production represents about 90% of its total production. The company also has heavy oil operations in Alberta’s Athabasca region, at Pelican Lake, and at Primrose North, Primrose South and Primrose East. Canadian Natural’s North Sea production is about 33,292 barrels of oil equivalent per day, or 5% of its total production.
