Bayfield Ventures Corp., $0.50, symbol BYV on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 40.9 million; Market cap: $20.4 million), is a Vancouver-based junior gold exploration company. Bayfield is exploring for gold in northwestern Ontario’s Rainy River and Red Lake districts.
Bayfield owns 992 hectares of land to the west and east of Rainy River Resources’ (symbol RR on Toronto) gold deposits in northwestern Ontario. Rainy River’s deposits could hold up to five million ounces of gold.
Bayfield is now undertaking a 20,000-metre drilling program on its 100%-owned Burns block in the Rainy River district. The block is just east of Rainy River Resources’ main ODM17 gold deposit. Bayfield believes Rainy River’s deposit may extend into the Burns block.
As well, Bayfield may set up a second drill later this summer, and start a drilling program on its 100% owned “B” claim block, which is immediately northeast of the Burns block.
