Millennial Media, $12.95, symbol MM on New York (Shares outstanding: 78.3 million; Market cap: $1.0 billion, www.millennialmedia.com), provides the technology and services used to deliver advertising over mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablet computers. Advertisers pay Millennial to deliver their ads to mobile device users. The company does this by paying developers of mobile software, or apps, a fee to place the ads in their programs. Millennial first sold shares to the public in March 2012 and listed on New York at $13. The shares doubled in price on the first day of trading but quickly dropped, hitting a low of $9 in August 2012. The stock has rebounded somewhat since then. In the three months ended September 30, 2012, Millennial lost $1.7 million, or $0.02 a share, compared to a loss of $1.5 million, or $0.09 a share, a year earlier.
