SXC Health Solutions Corp., $58.27, symbol SXC on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 30.0 million; Market cap: $1.7 billion), mainly sells software that helps manage drug benefits. Its clients are in the U.S. and Canadian health-care industries. The company’s software lets clients manage drug-benefit transactions online. SXC’s customers include organizations that manage drug benefits, federal, provincial, state and local governments, pharmacy benefit managers, managed-care organizations, and retail pharmacy chains. SXC changed its name from Systems Xcellence Inc. in June 2007. In April 2008, the company paid $143.8 million for U.S.-based National Medical Health Card Systems Inc. (NMHC). This business makes software that helps pharmacies keep track of their transactions. NMHC has helped SXC win more contracts, and expanded its geographic presence. That has pushed up revenue.
