Cortex Business Solutions, $0.47, symbol CBX on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 153.0 million; Market cap: $71.9 million) offers on-line services that help its customers make their businesses more efficient by cutting costs and streamlining purchasing and distribution. Through its “Cortex Trading Partner Network” the company aims to make it easier for its clients to exchange business documents, such as purchase orders, receipts and invoices. That helps its clients better manage their cash flows, while cutting administrative costs and the length of time documents are outstanding. The company focuses on the oil and gas industry, but hopes to add clients in other fields, as well. Its major customers include Apache Corp. in the U.S. and Husky Energy, Suncor Energy and Bonavista Energy Trust in Canada. In the three months ended April 30, 2010, Cortex’s revenue jumped to $897,822 from $353,184 as it added more clients.
